Relate: The Counselling People

Relate family counselling is now available at the North Barnes Children’s Centre at Lowther School.

Family counselling aims to assist family members resolve difficulties and concerns in their relationships with one another.

Appointments are available on Monday mornings and all family counselling will begin with a carefully planned assessment which will identify whether Relate is the most appropriate agency to help you and your family.

Are you aged between 16 and 24?

Are you looking for work or training opportunities?

CCP are looking to recruit a number of young people with a view to starting some Youth Café sessions at Castelnau Community Centre.

Working in partnership with Richmond Youth Partnership who run the K Kafes at Hampton Skate Park and in Kneller Gardens, Twickenham we would provide training and support with a view to employing young people to run the café here in Barnes.

Courses and Groups...

   

Mummy Matters Group

Post natal support group for parents with babies of six months or younger. The group is meeting weekly during term time for all your needs as a parent to a small baby.

There is an NCT Advisor available and lots of time for discussion, support and socialising. The sessions are FREE and are open to all parents and carers.

There will be a rotating program which includes visits by an NCT advisor, other speakers and experts.

Also an opportunity to socialise and get to know one another.

When: Mondays 11.00am – 12.30pm.

Cost: Free

Venue: PlayGroup building behind CCC.

North Barnes Gingerbread Friendship Group

Who we are? We are a small, informal group based in North Barnes at the Castelnau Community Centre, but cover a wide area. We Have around 40 members but would like to reach other single parents within the community to share our experiences and support. We can help each other.

The group leader has been vetted and has an advance CRB check. The North Barnes Gingerbread Friendship Group has signed a licence agreement to run the group in accordance with Gingerbread’s mission, vision and values.

We meet every Friday morning in the Community Café at Castelnau Community Centre but we also organise all kinds of other events and link in as much as possible to the national Gingerbread network.

To join our group you need to be a single parent and the main carer. We also request that you are a member of Gingerbread, which is free and simple to sign up to online:

What: Coffee mornings, kids' teatimes, Parent's well-deserved nights out, trips and parties.

Venue: Castelnau Community Café for coffee mornings and events held locally in West London.

We are a small group, but would like to reach more people within the community to share our experiences and support. Please let people know our cause! We are here to help.

BYT

For anyone aged 16 or above. No experience needed.

BYT performers have created over 100 original shows – with NO scripts!

The group’s work is based on workshops in voice, movement and improvisation.

BYT has twice represented the UK in Cairo and created 3 works for Kew Gardens.

Anyone aged over 16 is welcome to join on - Thursdays 7.45 - 10.00pm (and occasional Sundays) at CCC.

Cost: £3.00 per session with the first session free.

Community Job Club

Are you looking to go back to work? Need help in changing direction? Do you want to be more confident and need advice and help?

Castelnau Centre Project are starting a Job Club which will help you with everything you
need to do to get back to work including:

* Job searches using the internet.

* How to fill in an application form.

* Help with writing your CV.

* Interview techniques.

* Benefit and tax credit advice.

Starts back on Friday 6th January 2012, 10am – 12noon and then every Friday morning for 14
weeks.

Computer Courses

We will be running two 4 weeks IT courses.

The first course running from 17th January - 7th February 2011 from 9.45am - 11.45am, this will cover intermediate Word and file management.

The second part of the course will run from 6th March - 27th March 2011 from 9.45 - 11.45am, this will cover beginners Powerpoint and Excel.

Barnes Community Choir

If you love singing then come and join us. We learn and sing a mixture of modern style songs in a fun, relaxed and informal atmosphere. Dom Stichbury is our fantastic choir leader.

No auditions. No reading music. All over 16s welcome.

* Term starts back on Thursday 12th January 2012.

Cost: £5 trial session. £25 for each 5 weeks.
